Woman Drug Peddler Arrested in Sonamura — 5.985 kg Ganja and Maruti Eeco Seized from House

Sonamura: This morning, Sonamura Police arrested a woman involved in drug trafficking. During a late-night search operation yesterday, police recovered 5.985 kg of dry ganja from her residence. A Maruti Eeco vehicle (Registration No: TR 07 0413) used for transporting the contraband to different areas was also seized. The arrested woman has been identified as Poppy Akhtar (23), a resident of Matinagar East Tilai under Sonamura Police Station. Police stated that a case has been registered against her under the NDPS Act early today, and she will be produced before the Hon’ble Court. Police sources further informed that, based on her interrogation, several names and addresses of other local drug traffickers have been obtained. Legal action will be initiated against them after verification of the information. The police initiative in curbing drug activities has been widely appreciated in the area.
