WhatsApp Scam Using Fake RTO Traffic Chalan App Creates Panic in Sepahijala
NEBT NEWS DESK, AGARTALA, 5th September: A new cyber fraud technique has surfaced in Sepahijala district, where fraudsters are circulating links of a fake RTO Traffic Chalan app through WhatsApp and email. Once clicked, the malicious link allegedly hacks into the victim’s mobile phone, enabling fraudsters to siphon money directly from bank accounts. The matter came to light after Sumit Debnath, a youth from Raghunathpur, lodged a complaint at Bishalgarh Police Station. Police have confirmed that the fraudulent app link is rapidly spreading across the district and have urged citizens not to click on any such suspicious messages. Authorities have described the situation as one of the most alarming cyber threats currently in Sepahijala. The district police administration has launched an awareness campaign, warning people to remain vigilant. Meanwhile, panic has already spread among the general public due to the increasing reports of such fraudulent attempts.
