Two from Tripura Honoured with President’s NSS Award for 2022–23 Tripura adds a new feather to its cap in education and social service

Agartala, October 7, 2025: In a proud moment for Tripura, two representatives from the state have been honoured with the prestigious President’s Award for National Service Scheme (NSS) 2022–23. The awardees are Shyamal Dey, teacher and NSS Programme Officer of Bani Vidyapith Higher Secondary Girls’ School, and Anupam Das, NSS volunteer from Ramthakur College. The award ceremony was held on Monday, coinciding with Kojagari Lakshmi Puja, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, where the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, presented the honours to the recipients. The awards recognize exceptional contributions in fields such as social service, environmental conservation, education, and the promotion of human values. Over the past several years, Shyamal Dey has been leading NSS activities at the school level, inspiring students to engage in social work through initiatives like health awareness campaigns, tree plantation drives, cleanliness missions, blood donation camps, and rural development programs. His dedication and leadership have earned widespread appreciation across the state. Anupam Das, representing the youth of Tripura, has actively participated in numerous service-oriented initiatives at both state and national levels. His commitment to social welfare and humanitarian leadership has earned him this national recognition. The state’s education fraternity and NSS community have expressed immense pride and joy over the achievement. Experts believe that this national honour will further motivate Tripura’s young generation to embrace social service as a path to meaningful change.
