Two Drug Peddlers Arrested in Sonamura, Huge Consignment Seized

NEBT NEWS DESK, AGARTALA, 9th September 2025 In a joint operation, Sonamura Police and the 81st Battalion of the BSF apprehended two drug peddlers on Monday evening. During the raid at their residence, authorities seized 100 bottles of Eskuf cough syrup (packed in two sacks) and 600 grams of Yaba tablets (in a bundle). During preliminary interrogation, the accused admitted that the contraband was meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh, where its market value would be around ₹13 lakh. Following the seizure, a case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Sonamura Police Station. Police sources indicated that more arrests from the same network are likely in the coming days. The arrested individuals have been identified as: 1. Idris Miah (60) 2. Monura Khatun (56) Both are residents of UNC Nagar, Fakiradula, under Sonamura Police Station in Sepahijala District, Tripura. The duo will be produced before the court on Tuesday, with police seeking appropriate remand for further investigation.
