Two Arrested with Cannabis Worth Over ₹15 Lakh in Kumarghat

NEBT News Desk, Agartala, 15th September: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Kumarghat police seized over ₹15 lakh worth of dry cannabis and arrested two persons during a naka-checking drive on National Highway. According to police sources, during routine checking in front of Kumarghat Police Station, officers intercepted a WagonR vehicle (registration no. AS 05P 8013). On searching the vehicle, police recovered 142 kg of dry cannabis being transported illegally. The arrested accused have been identified as Palash Chandra Singha (19), a resident of Sonamura Kamalnagar area, and Anukul Dutta (30), a resident of North Pabiachhara under Kumarghat police station. Both were taken into custody, and a case has been registered against them. They will be produced before the Kailashahar District Court. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Rupam Chakma, Additional SP of Unakoti district, Kumarghat OC Sanjoy Das, TSR personnel, and other police officials. Police confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace the wider network involved in the smuggling.
