Two Arrested in Sonamura for Involvement in Drug Trafficking Case

Sonamura, Nov 10: In a late-night operation on Sunday, Sonamura Police arrested two individuals allegedly involved in a drug trafficking network. The accused have been identified as Samir Miah and Iahid Miah, both residents of Kamal Nagar, Krishna Dola area under Sonamura Police Station in Sepahijala district. Police sources revealed that the arrests are linked to a previous case dated September 15, 2025, when Sonamura Police and personnel from the 81st Battalion BSF jointly apprehended a drug peddler, Md. Mustafa, and seized 102 kilograms of ganja from his possession. Mustafa is currently in judicial custody. Investigators believe that Samir and Iahid were part of the same network involved in the illegal trade. Authorities expect more arrests as the investigation continues to identify other individuals connected to the narcotics racket in the area.
