On the occasion of Sharadotsav 2025, the Government of Tripura has announced a special initiative to distribute suji, maida and sugar free of cost to all ration card-holding families across the state. This decision, inspired by Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha and taken under the leadership of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Shri Sushanta Chowdhury, aims to deliver a festive gift to the people of Tripura during the Durga Puja celebrations. According to the department, 9.90 lakh ration card-holding families will benefit under this scheme. The total distribution includes: 496 metric tons of suji 1,982 metric tons of maida 190 metric tons of sugar The estimated expenditure for this initiative is ₹7 crore, to be borne as subsidy by the state government. Beneficiaries will be able to collect these items from fair price shops throughout October 2025. Last year, a similar scheme was implemented during Sharadotsav, which received overwhelming response from the people. At that time, the government had spent around ₹5.66 crore on free distribution of the same commodities. The department has appealed to all ration card holders across the state to avail the special Sharadotsav allocation within the scheduled time.
