Tripura Achieves 95% of ‘Lakhpati Didi’ Target under TRLM: CM Women Driving Rural Economic Growth, Key to ‘Viksit Tripura 2047’, Says Dr. Manik Saha

Agartala, Saturday: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced that the state has achieved 95% of its target under the Lakhpati Didi initiative, marking a major milestone in women’s empowerment and rural development. So far, 1,08,281 women in Tripura have become Lakhpati Didis through the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM). Speaking at the launch of Samriddhi — An Initiative for Making Lakhpati Didis at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan, Dr. Saha said that the primary goal of the state government is to ensure economic independence for women. During the event, bank loans worth ₹198.63 crore were sanctioned for members of rural self-help groups (SHGs), while a Community Investment Fund of ₹100 crore was also distributed to boost women-led enterprises. Highlighting the significance of women’s contribution to nation-building, the Chief Minister said, “About 50% of our population is women, and without their empowerment, neither the state nor the country can progress. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given special importance to women’s self-reliance, and today, we are witnessing that vision come to life through the stories of our Lakhpati Didis.” Dr. Saha also noted that Tripura currently has over 54,000 SHGs, involving 4.86 lakh women, along with 2,471 village organizations, 174 cluster-level federations, and 2,792 producer groups. He further added that bank credit worth ₹1,773 crore has been provided to SHGs under TRLM so far, resulting in 38,775 micro-enterprises, 66 integrated farming clusters, and 192 non-farm collectives across the state. “The Lakhpati Didi dream is becoming a reality. We have achieved nearly 95% of our goal and will soon reach 100%. Empowered women are at the heart of our vision for Viksit Tripura 2047, aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India,” said Dr. Saha. The programme was attended by several dignitaries, including Abhishek Singh, Secretary, Rural Development; Apurba Roy, Secretary, Finance; Anil S. Kotmayer, GM, NABARD; Nagadhiraj Dutta, Chairman, Tripura State Cooperative Bank; and Tarit Kanti Chakma, CEO, TRLM, along with officials from various banks and departments.
