Traditional Mangalchandi Brata Celebrated by Tati Community in Khowai
Khowai, Oct 9 — Upholding a long-standing cultural tradition, the Tati community of the western tribal section in Khowai organized the annual Mangalchandi Brata celebration during the auspicious month of Ashwin. Every year, members of the Tati community observe two major festivals — one in Chaitra month and another in Ashwin month, the latter being the revered Mangalchandi Brata. This year’s celebration was marked with devotion and enthusiasm by the community members from the western tribal region of Champahari area in Khowai. Earlier today, a team of devotees participating in the festival passed through the Subhash Park area, where local journalists invited them to perform traditional devotional songs dedicated to Goddess Mangalchandi. Responding warmly, the group sang two soulful hymns in praise of the Goddess. As a gesture of respect, the journalists offered a small token of appreciation to the performers. Later, the leaders of the group spoke to the media, elaborating on the significance and rituals associated with Mangalchandi Brata, a tradition deeply rooted in the spiritual and cultural fabric of the Tati community. The event highlighted the enduring spirit of faith and unity among the people, preserving age-old customs that continue to enrich Tripura’s diverse cultural heritage.
