Stinking Drain Water Turns Battala Market into a Nightmare Zone
Stinking Drain Water Turns Battala Market into a Nightmare Zone Even without rainfall, Battala market traders are suffering from flooding. On one hand, Durga Puja shopping season is on, while on the other, foul-smelling stagnant drain water has made movement in the market extremely difficult. The incident has taken place at the busy Battala market area in the capital city. Traders alleged that for the past five days, dirty drain water has been overflowing onto the roads, preventing customers from entering the market. During this festive season, such mismanagement has caused severe financial losses to shopkeepers. Frustrated traders vented their anger before the media. They said that despite repeated attempts to contact the local councillor and the contractor responsible for repair works, no action has been taken beyond mere assurances. As a result, their losses are mounting day by day. Due to the unbearable stench, buyers are avoiding the market altogether. Local traders have demanded that the problem be resolved immediately.
