Sports Key to Healthy Society: CM Saha Inaugurates MLA Cup Football Tournament NEBT News Desk, Agartala, 15th September: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today emphasized that sports play a vital role in building a healthy body and mind, while also contributing to the progress of society and the nation. Inaugurating the MLA Cup Football Competition at Boxanagar Mini Stadium, Dr. Saha highlighted the efforts of both central and state governments in enhancing sports facilities. “The current state government has taken various steps to develop sports infrastructure. Eight synthetic football grounds and hockey grounds have already been built across the state. Additionally, a high-quality swimming pool has been arranged for the swimmers of Tripura,” he said. Dr. Saha further stressed the importance of sports in combating drug addiction. “The more our youth engage in sports, the stronger our fight against addiction will be. The state government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs, and I call upon the youth to take a leading role in this movement,” he added. The event was attended by MLA Tafazzal Hossain, Swapna Nama, Chairman of Boxanagar Panchayat Samiti, Sepahijala District Magistrate Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, Superintendent of Police Bijay Debbarma, BDO Sanjib Kumar Pal, among others. A total of 16 teams from within and outside the state are participating in the football competition, which kicked off today with much enthusiasm.
