Six Inmates Escape from Dharmanagar Sub-Jail After Attacking Guards

Dharmanagar, Oct 1, 2025: In a dramatic jailbreak early Wednesday morning, six inmates escaped from Dharmanagar Sub-Jail, Kalikapur, after threatening jail authorities with sharp weapons. The incident occurred when the prisoners were brought out of their cells to carry fresh vegetables inside. The escapees include: 1. Nazim Uddin, son of Kuti Chand Miah, resident of Uttar Fulbari – facing theft and property-related cases (CRB Case No. 27/23 and 19/2019). 2. Rahim Ali, son of Kanai Ustar Ali, resident of Fulbari – accused under sections 331/309 of the BNS (Kadamtala PS Case No. 41/25). 3. Sunil Debbarma, son of Sitaram Debbarma, resident of Neoramura – charged with murder and kidnapping (ST (T-1) 12/14 U/S 364/302/201 IPC). 4. Narayan Dutt, son of Subhankar Ch. Dutta, from Bangladesh – booked under Section 03 of the PP Act (DMN GRP PS Case No. 01/25). 5. Rosan Ali, son of Jamir Ali, resident of South Kadamtala – accused under sections 331/309 of the BNS (Kadamtala PS Case No. 41/25). 6. Abdul Pata, son of Ebad Uddin, from Nilambazar, Assam – facing charges under the NDPS Act (Bagbassa PS Case No. 12/25 U/S 22/29). According to reports, the prisoners overpowered the guards near the main gate and fled through the compound wall on the right side of the jail premises. During the scuffle, jail staff Bedu Miah sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the Dharmanagar District Hospital. Police have launched a massive manhunt to nab the fugitives, and security has been tightened across North Tripura and adjoining areas.
