Shri A. K. Chakraborty Assumes Charge as Inspector General of BSF Tripura Frontier

Agartala, October 17, 2025: Shri Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, IG (Designate), officially assumed charge as the Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Tripura Frontier, on Friday. He took over the responsibilities from Shri A. K. Sharma, IG, who has been transferred to Manipur. A highly decorated officer, Shri Chakraborty is the recipient of several prestigious honors, including the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, the UNMIK Medal, and the Ati Utkrisht Sewa Padak. During his illustrious career, he has held various operational and administrative positions, serving along the Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-Pakistan borders, the Line of Control (LC), and in Anti-Naxal operations. He has also contributed as an instructor at premier BSF training institutions such as the BSF Academy, Gwalior, and the Central School of Weapons and Tactics, Indore. In addition to his domestic service, Shri Chakraborty has also served on deputation with the Special Protection Group (SPG) and participated in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). His appointment as IG of the Tripura Frontier is expected to further strengthen border security and enhance operational effectiveness in the region.
