Shiv Nagar Mahila Puja Committee: Tradition, Devotion & Social Service Mark 21 Years of Celebration
Agartala: Small in size yet unique in spirit, the Shiv Nagar Mahila Puja Committee has earned admiration for its dedication to performing Durga Puja strictly in accordance with pure Vaidik rituals. What makes this Puja stand out is that it is entirely organized and managed by a group of women, who have been carrying forward this tradition with unbroken commitment for the past 21 years. Beyond worship, the committee has made the festival a platform for cultural and social engagement. Art competitions for children, distribution of clothes to the underprivileged, and vibrant cultural programmes add depth and meaning to the celebration. Despite its modest scale, the Puja draws a massive turnout every year. A huge gathering of devotees and visitors was witnessed this season as well, with Maha Ashtami marking the peak of festivities. Thousands of people thronged the venue on the auspicious day to witness the rituals and join in the celebrations, making the Shiv Nagar Mahila Puja a remarkable blend of devotion, culture, and community service.
