Politics Cannot Be Done by Force or Communal Provocation: CM BJP Working to Free Tripura from Politics of Fear, Says Dr. Manik Saha Chief Minister Welcomes 339 New Voters to BJP
Agartala, October 25: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Friday said that politics cannot be done through muscle power or communal provocation. He asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is committed to freeing Tripura from the politics of fear and intimidation. Dr. Saha was speaking at the Karyakarta Conference organized by the Mandwai Mandal, where he also welcomed 339 new voters from 109 families into the BJP fold. “Attempts to silence people’s voices through muscle power will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” the Chief Minister said, emphasizing that the state government is working for the welfare of people in the janajati (tribal) areas. Dr. Saha praised the courage and leadership qualities of the janajati communities, saying, “No one can be braver than the janajatis. But bravery does not mean attacking others — it means standing firm with confidence and leading with integrity. For many years, a politics of fear dominated Tripura. The BJP is working to end that forever. Wherever communists have ruled, there have been incidents of murder, terrorism, and arson.” Highlighting the transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Chief Minister said, “After 2014, the entire political landscape of India changed. The Prime Minister has established India as a strong nation. We are working in the same direction in Tripura. But unfortunately, some are trying to create an atmosphere of anarchy in the state.” He condemned recent violent incidents, including the stabbing of a 75-year-old woman in Takarjala, questioning, “Under what circumstances can this be accepted? What kind of politics is this?” Dr. Saha reminded the gathering that Tripura, West Bengal, and Kerala were once ruled by the CPI(M), but the people of Tripura brought change in 2018 by electing the BJP. “If we could end communist rule after decades, there is no reason to fear anyone now. Any attempt to suppress people’s voices by force will not be tolerated. The government will take strict action whenever necessary,” he said. The Chief Minister also highlighted the increasing participation of women in BJP activities. “I am happy to see more mothers and sisters joining our programmes. They understand the vision of good governance and development. Women must play a special role in strengthening the BJP,” he added. The event was attended by BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharya, former MP Rebati Tripura, State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, Sadar Rural District President Gauranga Bhowmik, Mandwai Mandal President Abhijit Debbarma, and several senior party leaders.
