NMC Approves 50 Additional MBBS Seats for Tripura Medical College; Total Intake in State Rises to 450

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced another major development for medical education aspirants in Tripura. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved an additional 50 MBBS seats for Tripura Medical College and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, Agartala. With this approval, the total MBBS intake at Tripura Medical College has increased from 100 to 150, raising the overall number of MBBS seats across the state to 450. Highlighting the progress in recent years, the Chief Minister stated that in the last three years, Tripura has achieved a record addition of 225 MBBS seats — a remarkable milestone in the government’s continuous efforts to strengthen medical education and healthcare infrastructure. Dr. Saha expressed his sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda for their unwavering support and guidance in advancing Tripura’s healthcare sector.
