Massive Success in Anti-Drug Operation at Teliamura: 580 kg of Ganja Seized, One Arrested with Luxury Vehicles!
Teliamura, October 14: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Mungiakami Police under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge Sonesh Debbarma seized 580 kilograms of dry ganja in two separate operations, creating a sensation across the Teliamura sub-division. Based on a tip-off, police launched the operation in Champlaibari and North Maharani areas, recovering huge quantities of contraband along with two luxury vehicles and arresting one trafficker. In the Champlaibari area, police intercepted a vehicle carrying 219 kg of ganja. The vehicle had multiple fake number plates, including TR01A0852, and bore misleading stickers such as “Telecom Duty” and “Press,” allegedly used to disguise the vehicle as an official one for smuggling purposes. In a separate operation at North Maharani, police recovered 361 kg of ganja and detained the vehicle’s driver, identified as Sanjit Sarkar. The vehicle, bearing registration number TR01CA0481, was also a luxury SUV. Upon receiving information about the successful raids, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rohan Krishan and DCM Surjit Debbarma rushed to the spot and supervised the operation. SDPO Rohan Krishan stated that the operation was part of the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign, and an investigation is underway to trace the larger network involved. Preliminary findings suggest that the seized contraband was being transported from Tripura to Bihar. The prompt and coordinated action by the Teliamura Sub-Division Police has drawn wide appreciation from the public for their firm stand against the illegal drug trade.
