Agartala, October 16, 2025: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Customs Department and Government Railway Police (GRP), seized a huge consignment of illegal pharmaceutical drugs at Jirania Railway Station in West Tripura. Based on specific intelligence, the joint team conducted a search of a cargo train stationed at the railway yard and recovered 90,000 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and Triprolidine Hydrochloride syrup, substances often misused as narcotic drugs. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is around ₹4.5 crore. The bottles were found unclaimed and hidden alongside cargo, indicating a well-organized smuggling attempt. The seized consignment has been handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation and legal proceedings. Assam Rifles, working closely with other enforcement agencies, reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and safeguarding the Northeast from illegal activities.
