Massive Anti-Drug Operation in Sonamura: 20 Ganja Plantations and 6 Nurseries Destroyed

NEBT News Desk, Agartala, 16th September 2025: In a major crackdown on illegal cultivation, a joint operation was conducted today in the Dhonirampur area under Sonamura Police Station limits, covering Banshkholaa, Lupimara, Sapai Para, 18 Doom, and Bijoynagar. Between 8:30 AM and 1:00 PM, authorities destroyed 20 cannabis plantations and 6 nurseries, spread across approximately 25 acres of land belonging to the Forest Department. Officials estimated that around 3.75 lakh cannabis plants and saplings were eradicated during the drive. The large-scale operation was carried out with the joint efforts of Sonamura Police Station, 81st Battalion BSF (Deepak BOP, Dhanpur BOP, NC Nagar BOP, Batalab BOP, and Matinagar BOP), along with Jatrapur Forest, Sonamura Forest, and Boxanagar Forest officials. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to eliminating illegal drug cultivation in the region and ensuring strict enforcement against those involved.
