Major Smuggling Attempt Foiled in Kalamchera; One Miscreant Injured in BSF Firing

Agartala, Oct 10: A major smuggling attempt was foiled by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel near Kalamchera Border Out Post (BOP) on Thursday night. According to official sources, around 8:45 PM, a BSF patrol team noticed a group of 15–20 miscreants attempting to smuggle contraband items across the border. When the BSF troops intervened, the smugglers reportedly surrounded and assaulted them, even attempting to snatch a jawan’s weapon. In self-defence, a BSF personnel fired three rounds from his rifle. During the incident, one Indian miscreant, identified as Suman Mia, son of Abul Kasim, resident of Karalatala village, Kalamchoura, sustained a bullet injury to his chest. He was immediately evacuated to GB Hospital, Agartala, where his condition is said to be critical. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
