Major Crackdown on Illegal Timber Trade in Bishalgarh — Tripura Government’s Zero-Tolerance Policy in Action

Bishalgarh, October 17: In a major move to curb illegal timber trade and strengthen forest protection measures, the Tripura Government has intensified its crackdown on unlawful activities. Acting on specific inputs, a special Jumbo Team conducted a successful raid at Murabari near the SDM Office in Bishalgarh, creating a strong message against forest-related crimes. During the operation, police seized an illegal sawmill, a vehicle loaded with tree logs, and other incriminating materials. Notably, this comes just weeks after a similar illegal sawmill was dismantled from the same area by the Police and Forest Department. Despite repeated violations, strict action has been initiated once again, reaffirming the administration’s determination to uphold the law. While one accused managed to flee during the raid, police successfully apprehended another key suspect, Jewel Ahmed, in connection with the case. This proactive operation underscores the Tripura Government’s firm commitment to protecting the state’s green cover and ensuring that illegal exploitation of forest resources is met with swift and decisive action.
