Major Boost to Power Infrastructure in Tripura: 132 KV Substation Inaugurated at Gokulnagar

Agartala, October 17: In a significant step towards strengthening the power infrastructure of Tripura, the long-awaited 132 KV Power Substation at Gokulnagar under Bishalgarh Subdivision was officially inaugurated today by the Hon’ble Power Minister, Shri Ratan Lal Nath. Constructed at a cost of ₹40.18 crore, this state-of-the-art substation is expected to benefit nearly 49,000 households across Bishalgarh, Golaghati, Kamalasagar, Surjyamaninagar, and several adjoining areas — effectively addressing the long-pending issue of power disruptions in these regions. Speaking at the inauguration, Power Minister Shri Ratan Lal Nath termed the project a milestone achievement for the state’s electricity department. He said that the new substation would ensure a stable and uninterrupted power supply to thousands of consumers, bringing much-needed relief to residents who had been facing frequent outages. The project had earlier faced delays due to pending approvals from the Railway Department for drawing high-voltage lines over the railway tracks. However, under the initiative of local MLA Shri Sushanta Deb and with the dedicated efforts of the Power Department, the necessary permissions were secured, paving the way for completion and commissioning of the project. The inauguration event was attended by local MLA Smt. Antara Sarkar Deb and several other dignitaries, alongside officials from the Power Department and local bodies. With this new addition to Tripura’s power infrastructure, the state government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring reliable electricity access and improved quality of life for its citizens, in line with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s vision of a power-efficient and progressive Tripura.
