Heavy Rainfall Forecast in Tripura During Durga Puja Festivities

Agartala, October 1, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre Agartala, has issued a Special Weather Bulletin warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Tripura during the Durga Puja celebrations. According to the district-level rainfall data (0830 IST, Sept 30 – 0830 IST, Oct 1), South Tripura recorded the highest rainfall at 176.4 mm, followed by Dhalai (106.6 mm), Gomati (90.1 mm), Khowai (88.6 mm), Sepahijala (63.4 mm), North Tripura (25.6 mm), West Tripura (24.5 mm), and Unakoti (14.4 mm). Forecast Details: October 1, 2025: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7–20 cm) likely at one or two places over South Tripura. Heavy rainfall (7–11 cm) likely at one or two places across the remaining districts. Thunderstorms with lightning expected. October 2, 2025: Light to moderate rain/thundershowers expected at many places in Tripura. Heavy rainfall (7–11 cm) likely at one or two places over West Tripura, Khowai, Sepahijala, Gomati, and South Tripura. Thunderstorms with lightning at isolated locations. October 3, 2025: Light to moderate rain/thundershowers likely across the state. Heavy rainfall (7–11 cm) expected at one or two places in West Tripura, Sepahijala, Gomati, and South Tripura. Thunderstorms with lightning possible in all districts. The IMD has advised citizens to remain alert, especially during outdoor festivities, and to take necessary precautions. The next weather update will be issued on October 2 at 1:00 PM IST.
