News: Agartala, November 1: Bringing pride to Tripura, eight-year-old Viraj Banik from Bir Bikram Chowmuhani, Agartala, has won one gold and one bronze medal in the 8–9 years, 20 kg category at the 4th Q Northeast Zone Karate Championship 2025, held in Arunachal Pradesh from October 10 to 12. Viraj, the son of Bikram Banik, has been showcasing remarkable talent not only in karate but also in kickboxing. His coach, Pinaki Chakraborty, shared details of Viraj’s consistent progress and dedication during an interaction with the media. Viraj has been undergoing training at the NSRCC Karate Coaching Centre for the past three years. As the gold medalist in the Northeast Zone Championship, Viraj has now qualified to represent the Eastern Zone in the upcoming National Karate Championship to be held in Goa this December. Speaking to reporters, young Viraj expressed his dream of one day representing India at the Olympic Games. He has already been felicitated twice by the Chief Minister of Tripura, who blessed and encouraged him to continue climbing the ladder of success. The people of Tripura are celebrating this young talent’s achievement, hoping that Viraj’s dedication and hard work will take him to even greater heights in the years to come.
