Headline: CM Manik Saha Highlights Women Empowerment Initiatives at Inauguration of 20th Regional Saras Mela in Agartala

Agartala, December 13: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday said that following the vision and guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the government has given top priority to women empowerment. He stated that several steps have been taken to strengthen women, particularly by empowering Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and encouraging their active participation across various sectors. The Chief Minister was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the 20th Regional Saras Mela held at the Hapania International Fair Ground. He emphasized that Saras Mela serves as an important platform for marketing indigenous products made by women from Self-Help Groups across different districts of the state. Dr. Saha highlighted various initiatives undertaken by both the Central and State governments aimed at ensuring the socio-economic development of women. He said such initiatives are creating new opportunities for financial independence, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods for women. The Saras Mela, he added, not only promotes self-reliance among women but also showcases traditional and locally made products, thereby strengthening the rural economy and preserving cultural heritage.
