Subheadline: Sanskriti Haat Reflects Tripura’s Unity in Diversity, Says Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha News: Agartala, November 2: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today announced a grant of ₹50.25 lakh for the development of infrastructure at the Sanskriti Haat under the Old Agartala Block, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting cultural activities in the state. Dr. Saha made the announcement while attending a program marking the 100th week celebration of the Sanskriti Haat at Sen Para, Nandannagar, Agartala. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister recalled that the Sanskriti Haat was officially launched on December 10, 2023. “I was fortunate to attend the inaugural program and am delighted to be part of this milestone celebration. Despite various challenges, the organizers have successfully held the Haat for 100 consecutive weeks without interruption,” he said. Dr. Saha lauded the initiative’s growing popularity, stating that Sanskriti Haat has become a cultural hub attracting people from Tripura, Bangladesh, and West Bengal. “This platform has not only promoted culture but also created opportunities for self-reliance and livelihood,” he added. Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering women through the Lakhpati Didi initiative, the Chief Minister mentioned that Tripura has already achieved the target of creating 1.08 lakh lakhpati didis, with around 4.85 lakh women associated with self-help groups. “About 40–50 families have enhanced their income through self-help group activities at this cultural market, which blends art, culture, and entrepreneurship,” Dr. Saha said. Underscoring the importance of preserving cultural heritage, he remarked, “Culture connects our past, present, and future. It is our ornament and identity. Tripura’s rich cultural diversity—with 19 tribal groups, Manipuris, minorities, and Bengalis—truly symbolizes unity in diversity.” The event was attended by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, former Assembly Speaker and MLA Ratan Chakraborty, Vice Chairman of the State-level Cultural Advisory Committee Subrata Chakraborty, West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar, TRLM CEO Tarit Kanti Chakma, Bangla Sanskriti Boloy President Sevak Bhattacharya, and several artists, scholars, and dignitaries.
