News Report: Agartala, July 22: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday organised a protest rally in Agartala against what the party described as “objectionable and provocative” actions led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence in New Delhi. The rally commenced from the BJP state office and witnessed the participation of party leaders, workers and supporters. The procession moved through various parts of the city before culminating near the Congress Bhavan at Post Office Chowmuhani. A tense situation prevailed in the area as BJP workers raised slogans condemning the Congress leadership. In view of the protest and the heightened political atmosphere, a heavy security deployment was put in place to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident. Police personnel and security forces remained stationed at strategic locations around the Congress office to ensure that the situation remained under control.
