Govt has provided 20,036 jobs including Die-in-Harness: CM State working to fill up vacant posts soon: CM CM hands over job offers to 214 Medical Officers Agartala, September 26: Doctors are born to save lives, and the respect they earn depends on how sincerely they serve people, said Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha while addressing a job offer distribution programme at Pragya Bhavan, Agartala. The CM informed that till now, the state government has provided 20,036 government jobs including Die-in-Harness appointments, maintaining full transparency. He assured that the government is making efforts to fill all vacant posts at the earliest. At the event, Dr. Saha handed over job offers to 214 General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs), including 142 men and 72 women, along with 12 Librarian posts. He emphasized the importance of librarians in schools, describing libraries as centres of trust, knowledge, and learning. Extending Durga Puja greetings, the CM highlighted the long and rigorous process of becoming a doctor, stressing that medical professionals must uphold dignity and compassion in their conduct. “The stethoscope is the ornament of doctors, and patients are the real sufferers—how you treat them will define your success,” he said. Dr. Saha also noted that the state government is working to meet the doctor-patient ratio as per norms set by the NMC and WHO. More doctors will be appointed in the coming days. Citing progress in healthcare infrastructure, he said Agartala Government Medical College currently has 150 MBBS seats, with 50 more seats awaiting approval, which will raise the total to 200. Across Tripura, there are now 400 MBBS seats, 63 BDS seats, 50 B.Sc Nursing seats, and a pharmacy college, with efforts underway to develop the state into a medical hub. The CM reiterated that the government’s focus is on transparency, self-reliance, and employment generation, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He pointed out that Tripura ranks second in the Northeast in terms of GSDP and per capita income, which reflects that the state is on the right path of development. The programme was attended by Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Health Director Dr. Tapan Majumder, NHM Mission Director Saju Wahid A, Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Director Dr. Nirmal Sarkar, AGMC Principal Prof. Dr. Anup Kumar Saha, Education Director N.C. Sharma, along with other senior doctors and officials.
