Governor Pays Tribute on 70th Death Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar at Ujjayanta Palace

Agartala, 6th December 2025: Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu attended the 70th Death Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar at Ujjayanta Palace this morning and paid floral tributes at his statue. Addressing the gathering, Governor Nallu highlighted the profound legacy of Dr. Ambedkar, noting that the Constitution of India was drafted under his leadership. He emphasized that the Constitution grants equal status, rights, and opportunities to every citizen and includes a reservation policy to uplift backward and marginalized communities. He also underscored Dr. Ambedkar’s role in ensuring adult franchise and electoral rights for women. The Governor stated that the truest tribute to Dr. Ambedkar would be to uphold and follow the principles enshrined in the Constitution. SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das also addressed the event, elaborating on Ambedkar’s immense contributions to nation-building and his lifelong work for the upliftment of the downtrodden. The programme began with a welcome speech by Deepa D. Nair, Secretary, Scheduled Caste Department, Government of Tripura. The vote of thanks was delivered by Biswajit Shil, Sabhadipati In-charge, Pashchim Tripura Zilla Parishad. Other prominent dignitaries present included Deepak Majumdar, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation; MLA Mina Rani Sarkar; and Pinaki Das Chowdhury.
