Gold Ornaments Worth ₹7 Lakh Recovered, Accused Arrested in Amtali Theft Case

Amtali, Sept 27: In a major breakthrough, police from Amtali Police Station have arrested one accused in connection with a recent burglary at the residence of Asmita Bhowmik, a local resident of Amtali Bazar area. A few days ago, burglars broke into Bhowmik’s house and made away with gold ornaments, cash, and a mobile phone. Following her written complaint, police launched an investigation. On Friday, the police apprehended the accused, identified as Jayanta Bhowmik, from his residence. During the operation, officers recovered stolen gold ornaments worth nearly ₹7 lakh, along with the missing mobile phone and a large sum of cash. Addressing a press conference on Saturday afternoon, the SDPO of Amtali confirmed the recovery and arrest, adding that the accused will be produced before the court and taken into police remand for further investigation.
