Direct Agartala–Bagdogra Flight Service from October 26: A Boon for Travel Enthusiasts
Agartala, October 13: In a major development for travel enthusiasts across Tripura, Air India Express is all set to launch a direct flight service between Agartala and Bagdogra from October 26, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the people. With this new route, travelers from Tripura will now have easy access to popular tourist destinations like Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Mirik, and Sikkim — gateways to the scenic beauty of North Bengal and the Himalayas. According to the airline, the service will operate daily with a 180-seater Boeing aircraft. The flight will depart from Bagdogra at 4:30 PM and reach Agartala at 5:40 PM, while the return flight will leave Agartala at 6:10 PM and arrive in Bagdogra at 7:20 PM. Ticket bookings for the new route have already begun, and fares have been kept affordable for general passengers. The timing of this launch coincides with the start of the winter flight schedule, making it easier for families to plan trips during the upcoming holiday season. However, the new route comes with a minor adjustment — Air India Express will temporarily suspend its Agartala–Guwahati service. Commenting on this, KC Bina, Manager of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, stated, “The Agartala–Guwahati route is already well served by IndiGo and Akasa Air. Hence, the aircraft has been redeployed to open the new Agartala–Bagdogra connection.” This means there will be no impact on air connectivity to Guwahati, while the new route opens fresh opportunities for tourism and trade between Tripura and North Bengal. Tourism stakeholders believe that the new service will boost both tourism and business exchanges between the two regions. With this connection, visiting the sunrise at Tiger Hill in Darjeeling or exploring the charming landscapes of Gangtok will now be easier, faster, and more comfortable than ever.
