Daylight Intrusion Attempt by Bangladeshis Sparks Tension in Kailashahar

NEBT News Desk | Agartala | 8th September In a shocking incident on Sunday afternoon, panic gripped Kailashahar after a group of Bangladeshi nationals allegedly attempted to intrude into Indian territory via the river route. According to local sources, around 10–12 Bangladeshi citizens crossed the border through the Manu river near the cremation ground area of Kailashahar municipal region while collecting floating firewood. The incident came to light when locals and members of Shmashan Bandhu raised objections and stopped them. Soon after, BSF jawans intervened and instructed the intruders to return. However, the situation turned tense when the Bangladeshis allegedly hurled bottles at the BSF personnel. With the assistance of the locals, BSF eventually managed to force the intruders to retreat. The incident triggered widespread tension in the locality. Residents alleged that Bangladeshi nationals often cross the border under the pretext of fishing or collecting firewood, and demanded stricter vigilance along the riverine border.
