CM Welcomes 312 New Voters to BJP; Says Threat Politics Cannot Stop Party’s Growth in TTAADC Areas
Agartala: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday asserted that no one can prevent the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from carrying out political activities in the TTAADC areas, emphasizing that “threat politics” will not succeed and the party continues to grow stronger among the Janajati community. Dr. Saha made these remarks while attending an organizational programme at Barakathal Bazar under the Simna Assembly Constituency, where 107 families comprising 312 voters formally joined the BJP. The Chief Minister welcomed them into the party during the joining ceremony organized by the Simna Mandal. Referring to recent statements claiming that national political parties would not be permitted to enter TTAADC areas, the Chief Minister said such threats only strengthen BJP’s resolve. “We often hear threats. But the more threats are given, the stronger we will become. Barakathal Bazar is not anyone’s personal property. Any party can go anywhere. The BJP will never tolerate intimidation through force or pressure,” Dr. Saha stated. He added that the BJP has always worked for national integrity and development, citing the sacrifices of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deen Dayal. “We have no conflict with regional parties, but politics that spreads confusion, division, or communal sentiments will never be fruitful. Development cannot happen through such politics. The BJP’s doors remain open for all who wish to join,” he said. Dr. Saha highlighted that peace has significantly improved in the Northeast under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that 11–12 major peace agreements have been signed in the region. He said that in the past, some people from the Janajati community were misled into extremism, but the situation has changed drastically. The Chief Minister also underscored the government’s efforts toward uplifting the Janajati community, mentioning that seven prominent individuals from the community have been awarded the Padma Shri due to the continuous efforts of PM Modi. He further added that the Agartala Airport was renamed after Maharaj Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, Saangramma Puja has been declared a restricted holiday, and the government holiday for Garia Puja has been extended from one to two days. Janajati Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, BJP General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, West District Sadar Grameen President Gauranga Bhowmik, Janajati Morcha Vice President Mangal Debbarma, Lefunga RD Block BAC Chairman Ranbir Debbarma, along with several senior leaders and party workers, were present at the event.
