CM Visits GB Pant Hospital, Vows Strict Action After Violent Attacks During Santirbazar Bandh

“No one will be spared — perpetrators will be nowhere in the coming days,” says Chief Minister Manik Saha. Agartala, October 24, 2025 Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today visited GB Pant Hospital to meet victims of violent attacks that took place in Santirbazar of Salema in the Kamalpur subdivision during a bandh called by Tripura Civil Society on Thursday. Dr. Saha, who said he monitored the situation throughout the night, described the assaults — carried out with sticks and rods, and involving the snatching of chains — as “really unacceptable.” He told reporters that roughly 12 people were injured in separate incidents; some are receiving treatment in Kamalpur while others were brought to GB Pant Hospital. “We have seen what happened. Entire night I was monitoring the incident and the situation. I have given proper direction. Today I have come here to enquire about the health condition of the victims. This is really unacceptable. The way they attacked with sticks, rods, and snatched chains — I don't understand what kind of protest this is. I have directed Tripura Police to take proper steps and the law will take its own course of action,” Dr. Saha said. The Chief Minister vowed firm action against those responsible. “No one will be spared and assured that they will be punished. On social media I have identified who was engaged. No one will be tolerated and accepted. They will be nowhere in the coming days. Just wait and see what will happen,” he added. Authorities have deployed additional police personnel in the area and the administration has been directed to ensure peace and order. Investigations are ongoing and the state government said legal proceedings will follow against those found involved in the attacks.
