CM Sanctions ₹50.65 Crore for Infrastructure, Welfare Projects Special Focus on Durga Puja Preparations and Urban Development

Agartala, Sept 25: In the run-up to the Durga Puja festival, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has approved projects worth ₹50.65 crore, covering infrastructure, sanitation, welfare, and urban development works across the state. According to the official statement, administrative and financial approval has been granted after consultation with concerned departments. Out of the total, ₹12 crore has been allocated for sanitation, solid waste management, safe drinking water, drainage, road construction, maintenance of capital assets, water body conservation, street lighting in newly created wards and nagar panchayats, online services, and construction of electric crematoriums in 14 municipalities and 6 nagar panchayats. For public convenience during the upcoming festivities, ₹9.37 crore has been sanctioned for maintenance of fixed assets, while ₹9.28 crore has been approved for early completion of pre-approved works in six R&D divisions—Teliamura, Amarpur, Kumarghat, Kanchanpur, Satchanda, and Shantirbazar. In Agartala city, ₹17.38 crore has been sanctioned for major development of Cantonment Road, including stretches from Durga Chowmuhani to Lake Chowmuhani, Lake Chowmuhani to Radhanagar, Buddha Mandir to Radhamadhav Unnayan Sangha, and Pragati School to Buddha Mandir. Additionally, the Chief Minister announced festival-related financial benefits. A total of ₹2,310 each has been sanctioned as a festival grant for 11,150 cook-cum-helper workers under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Scheme (Mid-Day Meal). Further, ₹2.58 crore has been sanctioned as bonus and advance for 26 contractual workers under the Primary Education Department (PM-Poshan). Dr. Saha said these initiatives aim to provide relief and support to the public while also boosting development activities during the festive season.
