Brother Kills Brother Over Land Dispute in Kailashahar; Two Dead, One Seriously Injured

A tragic incident took place on Saturday evening at Ward No. 4 of Phultali Gram Panchayat under Chandipur constituency in Kailashahar, Unakoti district, where a long-standing land dispute between two brothers turned fatal. According to local residents, the elder brother, Mayur Chandra Sinha, a mason by profession, and the younger brother, Nildhwas Sinha, a retired Army personnel, had been involved in a dispute over family land for a long time. On Saturday evening, Nildhwas allegedly went to his elder brother's house and attacked him with a knife. During the violent altercation, both brothers reportedly assaulted each other, resulting in their deaths on the spot. The son of the elder brother was also seriously injured during the incident and was immediately rushed to Unakoti District Hospital in Kailashahar for medical treatment. After receiving information about the incident, police from Kailashahar Police Station rushed to the spot. Unakoti District Superintendent of Police Sudhambika R. and other senior police officials also visited the scene along with a dog squad team. Police have begun questioning family members and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The bodies of the two deceased brothers were sent to Unakoti District Hospital for post-mortem examination. Speaking to journalists, Phultali Gram Panchayat Pradhan Mridul Sinha expressed shock over the tragic incident and called it an unfortunate consequence of a prolonged family dispute.
