BJP Leaders Watch The Bengal Files in Agartala, Criticize West Bengal Government
NEBT News Desk | Agartala | 7th September The Bengal Files, a 2025 Indian Hindi-language political drama directed and written by Vivek Agnihotri, has sparked political reactions in Tripura. The film, centered on the Direct Action Day and Noakhali riots, portrays the violence and its aftermath as genocide while controversially alleging that these chapters of history were deliberately suppressed or ignored. On Sunday, Tripura BJP State President Papiya Datta, along with party workers, visited Rupasi Multicinema Hall in Agartala to watch the film. Speaking to the media after the screening, Datta strongly criticized the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, accusing it of deliberately blocking the film’s release in the state. She alleged that the ban on the film in West Bengal was an attempt to suppress historical truth and curtail freedom of expression. Datta further said that such actions expose the political insecurity of the ruling government in Bengal. Meanwhile, the screening in Agartala witnessed enthusiastic participation of BJP karyakartas and supporters, marking the film’s growing political significance.
