Bijal Police Destroy 45,000 Cannabis Plants in Anti-Drug Operation
Bijal, Tripura, Oct 3, 2025: In a significant anti-drug initiative, Bijal Police have destroyed approximately 45,000 cannabis plants in a major crackdown. The operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the newly inaugurated Bijal Police Station to establish a drug-free state. Since taking charge as the first Station Officer nearly four months ago, Jugal Kishore Tripura has led the police in a series of successful anti-drug operations, achieving around 20 notable successes. On Friday, acting on confidential information, Bijal Police, along with TSR and BSF personnel, carried out a coordinated operation across several locations under Khwai Sub-Division’s international border area of Khenrabarhi BOP. The operation targeted illegal cannabis plantations, including fully grown plants and nurseries. Police destroyed the cannabis plants by setting them on fire at the sites. “Based on credible intelligence, multiple illegal cannabis gardens were identified across nearly a dozen locations. The joint operation successfully eradicated these plants,” stated SO Jugal Tripura. The successful operation has been hailed as a significant step toward combating drug cultivation in the region, and the police have assured that such operations will continue in the future.
