Big Success for Amtali Police in Anti-Liquor Operation on Maha Shashthi Evening
Agartala, September 29: To ensure a peaceful celebration of Durga Puja, Tripura Police has intensified its anti-liquor drives across the state. In line with this initiative, Amtali Police achieved a major success on Sunday evening, coinciding with Maha Shashthi, by conducting a special anti-liquor operation. The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Paritosh Das, Second Officer Mrinal Kanti Pal, along with other police officers and TSR jawans. Acting on secret inputs, the police raided the residence of Indrajit Debnath at Maheshkhala and Samir Ghosh at Hapania, seizing a large quantity of illegal foreign liquor. On the same evening, police intercepted a goods vehicle (bearing registration number TR 01 E 1762) near ONGC Bank Chowmuhani on the Agartala-Sabroom National Highway. A huge stock of foreign liquor was recovered from the vehicle, and the driver, Manish Deb, was arrested on the spot. A case was registered against him under relevant legal provisions. Addressing a press conference on Monday afternoon (Maha Saptami), OC Paritosh Das revealed that the seized liquor is valued at approximately ₹5 lakh in the market. He further stated that Amtali Police has been regularly conducting such operations as part of the mission for a "Nasha-Mukt Tripura" (Drug-Free Tripura). However, this special drive was launched during Durga Puja to prevent any disruption of law and order due to alcohol abuse. Police have assured that such vigilance will continue throughout the festive season to maintain peace and discipline.
