Ambassa Police Seize Huge Quantity of Cannabis Ahead of Durga Puja, One Arrested

NEBT News Desk | Agartala | 7th September In a major success ahead of Durga Puja, Ambassa Police achieved a breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, aligning with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s vision of a “Nesha Mukt Tripura”. Acting on a tip-off, police strengthened checking at Bet Bagan naka point under Ambassa Police Station. Around 11 AM on Sunday, a red Maruti Swift car bearing registration number TR-01-CF-0285 was intercepted and thoroughly searched. During the search, police recovered 21 packets of dry cannabis from the vehicle. The driver, identified as Ajay Das, a resident of Pitrachhara, Udaipur, was arrested on the spot. During interrogation, Das confessed that he was transporting the contraband from Teliamura to Dharmanagar for a deal worth ₹20,000. Speaking on the operation, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nirupam Dutta lauded the team for the successful seizure. Officer-in-Charge Nandalal Das assured that such anti-narcotics drives will continue regularly. The operation also saw active participation of TSR 3rd Battalion jawans. This significant bust marks a major victory for Ambassa Police in curbing illegal drug trafficking ahead of the festive season
