Accused in Attempted Murder Case Found Dead by Hanging in Sonamura

Sonamura, Oct 11: A man identified as Nurul Islam, son of Kala Miah, and a resident of Paschim Durlabhnarayan, Sonamura, Sepahijala District, was found dead early this morning in a rubber plantation at Bardowal Munshi Mura (No. Ward). According to preliminary reports, it is suspected that Nurul Islam died by suicide by hanging sometime during the night. Upon receiving the information, police from Sonamura Police Station reached the spot and registered a case of unnatural death (UD case). The body was sent for post-mortem examination at Sonamura Hospital, and after completion of the autopsy, it was handed over to the deceased’s family. It may be recalled that on October 9, 2025, at around 11:45 PM, Nurul Islam had allegedly attacked his wife, Husne Ara Begum, and daughter-in-law, Salma Akhter, with a sharp weapon following a domestic dispute, leaving both of them critically injured. The victims were rescued with the help of Sonamura Fire Service and later shifted from Melaghar Hospital to Agartala GB Hospital for advanced treatment. After the violent incident, the accused had fled into the nearby forest, and a case was registered against him at Sonamura Police Station. Police are continuing further investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
